These past two days have been SO WONDERFUL. The week was a little stressful, but my yoga classes got me through...
Saturday morning I drove out to the suburbs of Cincinnati to see where my dad grew up. I called him when I was parked outside of his house, and he was THRILLED that I was there. He proceeded to take me through all of the sites he remembered from childhood, and (I know I am going to catch crap for this) it reminded me of The Lakehouse in a weird, not-dating sort of way. The last place he recommended I go was a park that he used to play in. There was an awesome stream and some running trails, so I switched over to my running clothes (which I have in my car at all times now...who am I?) and jogged for a while. It was LOVELY.
Afterwards I was in the mood for Sonic, so with no one to stop me I looked up the closest one (only 7 miles away) and headed straight for it. And wouldn't you know, when I got there it was Happy Hour and all the drinks were 1/2 off. Now that is a happy hour I can enjoy. Then I went to this awesome sandwich shop and bought 2 huge pickles (one for me and one for my roommate, who also loves them and doesn't make me sit outside the apartment to eat them...MOLLY). Then I went to Trader Joe's and bought cheap wine. What a perfect day.
Then, to top it all off, when I got back Katie asked me to go with her to a cookout some MBA interns were having. I was thinking that these would all be people like Ryan Langdale or Christina's husband (seeing that they're the only MBA student I know) and that it would be a pretty good time. When we got to where the GPS said the house was, we were a street with some of the largest houses I've ever seen. We are talking private gates and fountains and castles, basically. Obviously we assume that we are on the wrong street so we call the guy who's hosting the party to ask where it is. Turns out we were in the exact right spot, and he instructed us to just "pull right under the portico" of course. We pull into the driveway of a HUGE house and park right next to the stables (thats right, stables. Less than 10 minutes from downtown, mind you.) We walk into the back door and into the kitchen to the sound of classical music playing ON A RECORD PLAYER. This house was the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen; its over 100 years old and decorated in full colonial style. Apparently the intern who is living there is house sitting for the summer. He pays no rent, no utilities, and has a maid come every two weeks. Talk about living the life.... The house belongs to the Suttenfields, and one of the daughters that grew up the in house wrote the book Prep that Gossip Girls is based from.
So not only does this guy live in a classy place, all the other interns at this "cookout" were 30+ and very smart and not afraid to show it. At one point we debated over whether more people in the world spoke spoke Elvish or Latin. No joke. One girl told me she went to HBS, and it took me fifteen minutes to realize she meant Harvard Business School. What can I say, I am not a classy person. The whole night was hilarious and weird and definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Katie and I came back laughed for a good 30 minutes about the whole thing. Then we made baked brie and drank some cheap wine and watched 24. THAT is my idea of a good evening.
Today was church, shopping, running, and more 24. This week is going to be crazy, but I am thinking about heading to Chicago this weekend to celebrate it being over. Katie has family there and its not too long of a drive. We'll see what happens.
In other news....
FIVE DAYS TILL YOU'RE 21 MOLLY!!!!!!!!!
Love you guys and miss you guys!
Shlell
